New Grove Single Cask Rum, 2007

Die Auswahl zum Special Cask wird durch Verkostungen getroffen und nur die interessantesten und vielversprechendsten Rums werden bis zur endgültigen Selektion in einzelnen Fässen gereift. Dieser Rum in limitierter Auflage wurde von LATELTIN ausgewählt und exklusiv für die Schweiz abgefüllt. Der Rum des Jahrgangs 2007 stammt aus dem Fass Nr. 87. Nach 14 Jahren Reifung konnten 246 Flaschen abgefüllt werden.

Barceló Imperial

Origin: Dominican Republic

Alcohol content: 38%


Julian Barceló, young Spanish entrepreneur, founded Barceló & Co. in 1930 in the city of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The brand quickly became one of the largest and most respected Dominican companies. With a presence in more than 80 countries worldwide, Ron Barceló becomes the most exported dark rum in 2018 according to IWSR (International Wine and Spirits Research). A feat that was also accomplished in 2019. The Barceló Imperial is made from the precious nectar of the finest selection of Dominican sugar cane, grown in our own sugar cane fields. Barceló Imperial is the exquisite harmony for the senses between colour, aroma and taste.


Tasting Notes

Nase: Frisch, buttrig und cremig, mit Noten von süßen Nüssen, karamellisierten Früchten und Eiche. Gaumen: Dunkelbrauner Zucker, kandierte Äpfel, Kompott, Malvasier, Eiche und Gewürze. Abgang: Lang, gute Länge und Textur mit Noten von Zedernholz und Zigarrenblättern.

Matusel is unusual

Origin: Dominican Republic

Alcohol content: 40%


The Matusalem Rum Insolito characterizes itself as the world's first "rosé rum" and is in this respect another pioneering product of the recognized brand. It is a blend of the Matusalem Gran Reserva 15 and a rum that was stored in Tempranillo red wine casks for three additional years. By marrying both rums together, the characteristic pink color is created.

Mount Gay XO Rum

Origin: Barbados

Alcohol content: 43%


Mount Gay wird seit 1703 in der ältesten Rumdestillerie der Welt auf der Karibikinsel Barbados hergestellt. Diese Spezialitäten stehen für Spitzenqualität und höchsten Genuss, dies belegen zahlreiche Auszeichnungen. Entscheidenden Einfluss auf die Qualität und das besondere Aroma bilden das tropische Klima und das einzigartige Terroir sowie die überdurchschnittlich lange Fermentation mit eigenen Hefestämmen und hauseigenem korallengefilterten Quellwasser. Mount Gay verzichtet ausserdem auf die Zugabe von Zucker und Aromen. Für den neuen XO hat unser Master Blender noch eine weitere Schicht an Geschmack und Komplexität hinzugefügt. Die Rums, die in Kolonnen und Pot Stills gebrannt und danach in ex American Whiskey sowie ex Bourbon Fässern ausgebaut werden, werden mit Rums, die in erlesenen Cognacfässern reiften vermählt. Nach 5 bis 17 Jahren ist der neue XO fertig – ein harmonischer Rum höchster Qualität mit komplexen Aromen.


Tasting Notes

Nose: The aroma is rich with interesting scents of flamed orange peel, mulling spice, and humidor

Palate: On the palate it has a soft and creamy texture with notes of mango, cane, plantain, cloves and warm oak.

Finish: The finish is medium long and warm with a pepper kick.

Le Chat Premium Rum

Herkunft:  Schweiz

Alcohol content: 40%

LeCHat Rum is made in Switzerland using the traditional Häfelibrand process.

This distilling method retains the natural aromas that develop during the distillation process in the distillate and therefore produces extremely complex and aromatic products. It is thanks to the master distiller that only the “heart of the distillate” finds its way into the barrels. In order to develop the aroma profile in an exquisite way and to take the Swissness of Le Chat even further into account, the distillate is stored in 4 different barrels, which are made of typical local woods: oak, chestnut, walnut and acacia. The master blender then ensures that these differently matured distillates are married in the optimal ratio and lead to this unique taste experience.


Le Chat is characterized by a mix of vanilla, forest honey, tobacco and fresh wood. Rum-typical notes of sugar cane juice and dark molasses are harmoniously integrated into this variety of tastes. The finish captivates with a wood-spicy infinity accompanied by honey.

Bayou XO Mardi Gras

Herkunft: USA

Alcohol content: 40%


Inspiriert von den frühen Rum Produzenten in Louisiana, entsteht durch die Kombination von frischem Rohrzucker und cremiger Melasse ein ganz besonderes Rum-Erlebnis. Alten handwerklichen Traditionen folgend, wird Bayou Select Rum in kupfernen Brennblasen im Pot-Still Verfahren destilliert und anschliessend vom Master Blender Rieniel Vicente mittels Solera-Verfahren in Bourbonfässern aus amerikanischer Eiche und Bordeauxfässern aus französischer Eiche bis zu vier Jahre lang gereift. Das Ergebnis ist ein besonders weich anmutender und geschmacklich ausgewogener brauner Rum mit einem komplexen und eleganten Charakter. Jede Flasche ist von Bayou’s Master Distiller signiert und nummeriert.


Tasting Notes

Nose: floral with notes of spicy tobacco, aromatic cedar and dark fruits

Palate: complex and varied, aromas of velvety plums, intense oak, a hint of tobacco and a subtle sweetness of honey

Finish: The finish is long-lasting, dry and is accompanied by sherry, spicy pepper and sweet honey.

Kawama 13 and Cuba

Origin: Cuba

Alcohol content: 40%


The name Kawama derives from the mythological context of the «Caguama» turtle, once revered by local tribes as the mother of mankind. Even after a few centuries and the Spanish rule, the tradition remains alive.

The Cuban rum "Kawama" takes on the spirit and symbol of the Caribbean turtle and is now tasted in all regions of the world.

Hergestellt wird der Rum von «La Ronera Cárdenas» in der Provinz Matanzas.

Ron Cristobal Shery Oloroso Cask Finish

Origin: Dominican Republic

Alcohol content: 46%

The rum is made by Alcoholes Finos Dominicanos, who harvest their own sugar cane, ensuring that the rum is made exclusively from Dominican Republic plants. Ron Cristóbal Santa Maria Port Cask is a limited edition premium rum series. After an initial aging of 12 years in a bourbon cask, this Santa Maria Edition received a second aging in ex-Oloroso European oak casks for a period of 17 months. Ron Cristóbal Santa Maria Port Cask Limited Edition was distilled in 2006 and bottled in August 2020 with a production run of 1487 bottles.

Cihuatán 12y, Solero

Bourbonfässern. Cihuatán Cinabrio ist ein Rum, der als Hommage an «Kinich Ahau», der Maya-Gott der Sonne, gewidmet wurde. Der Name Cinabrio wurde von der Farbe Rot inspiriert, die von den alten Maya mit dem Mineral Cinabrio (Cinnabar) hergestellt wurde. Rot war «Kinich Ahaus» heilige Farbe und galt als gutes Omen.

Authentic Native, 15y

Origin: Panama

Alcohol content: 40%

Auténtivo Nativo is an aged rum made from sugar cane grown in the mineral-rich volcanic soils of Panama's Herrera region. It is distilled in a vintage 1922 copper and brass still at Las Cabras Distillery

distilled. This special process gives the rum a unique aroma and an incomparable taste, paired with a special softness.

The Forbidden Rum, Reserve 12

Origin: Mexico

Alcohol content: 40%


The El Ron Prohibido Reserva 12 Years Old Solera Rum is blended using the solera method, in which the oldest rum contained in the blend is aged for twelve years.

Bottled in a stylish, traditional bottle, it should be served neat to allow the sweet and bitter notes of honey and coffee to unfold.

Red Beard Rum Barreled

Herkunft: Schweiz

Alcohol content: 44%

Captain Balthasar couldn't relate to his crew's superstition that white rum bestows a pure soul. He preferred a well-seasoned rum. Whenever he visited the Caribbean, he had a few barrels set aside for himself, which he only took with him on the trip years later. This made the rum softer and at the same time gave it a wonderful variety of aromas. Even today, this soft character with distinctive barrel aromas characterizes the six-year-old Captains Elixir. A typical rum to enjoy pure or to mix high-quality cocktails.

Don Papa, 7y

Herkunft: Philipinen

Alcohol content: 40%


Don Papa Rum von den Philippinen ist ein hervorragender Einsteiger-Rum, da er durch den relativ hohen Zuckergehalt sehr zugänglich und sanft und damit sehr einfach pur zu trinken ist. Es handelt sich um einen Blended Rum aus Melasse, bei dem mehrere Destillate miteinander vermählt werden. Der Blend reift nach dem abgeschlossenen Brennvorgang sieben Jahre in Fässern aus Eichenholz. Kennzeichnend für den Rum, dass er nicht auf dem Festland destilliert wird. Die Brennerei produziert die im kleinen Stil und hat ihren Sitz auf der Insel Negros. Sie hört auf den Spitznamen "Zuckerinsel" und liefert das wertvolle Zuckerrohr als Rohstoff. Der Rum lagert am Fuss des Kanlaon- Bergs und ist den dortigen klimatischen Bedingungen ausgesetzt, was dazu beiträgt, dass er sich von der Masse abhebt.

El Dorado, 15y

Origin: Guyana

Alcohol content: 43%


The El Dorado 12 years is an international Gold Medal winner with 70cl and 40% vol. from Guyana. This elegant, multi-award-winning rum symbolizes the rum's gentle sweetness and stands for a high-quality, inexpensive rum that you can and should definitely drink neat. El Dorado 12 is a blend of specially selected Guyana rums, the youngest of which is at least 12 years old. The El Dorodo 12y was matured in old bourbon oak barrels.

Ron Millonario, Reserve XO

Herkunft: Peru

Alcohol content: 40%


Ron Millonario XO is a typical molasses rum based on the South American model, which is still distilled today using the same methods and in three old stills from Scotland.

Er reift bis zu 20 Jahre lang im Solera-System in Eichenholzfässern heran.


Tasting Notes

Aroma: Ein bezaubernder Duft nach Konditorei,

caramelized tropical and dried fruits. Fine notes of cinnamon and vanilla, with a light spice and a hint of cigar box.

Palate: Full-bodied with delicate, generous sweetness, but very controlled. Compact, focused and beautifully balanced. Complex aromas of figs and dates, butterscotch and cloves.

Finish: Elegant, velvety and yet opulent. Very long lasting.

Angostura 1824, 12y

Herkunft: Trinidad & Tobago

Alcohol content: 40%


Angostura 1824 Limited Reserve is a blend of the finest aged rum from casks specially selected by the Master Blender. These rums were aged in charred American oak bourbon casks for a minimum of 12 years. A full-bodied, complex rum with wonderful aromas.


Tasting Notes

Aroma: Vanilla, syrup, honey, caramel and cocoa

Taste: Full-bodied complex and powerful with

pronounced cognac notes.

Finish: toffee

Mr. Lüthi in a different way

Origin: Switzerland

Alcohol content: 40%


That's why the proud inventor Urs Lüthy calls it "andersRum". Urs Lüthy has been working on it for years so that the distillate tastes less earthy. He has succeeded in refining the taste with the right yeast. The total of 4 years of storage in wine and bourbon barrels also helps to make the taste "softer" and "fruitier".

Ashanti Spiced, Red Rum

Herkunft: Guatemala

Alcohol content: 38%


The basis for the Ashanti is stored rum from Guatemala. Seasoned with hibiscus blossoms and ginger, it develops its uniquely rich taste. It is aromatic and persistent in the mouth, with notes of vanilla and toasted honey.

The "Flor de Jamaica" gives it this copper-colored tone, its freshness, its citrus aroma and its mentholated note.

Clement Old XO Agricultural

Herkunft: Martinique

Since 1887, Rhum Clément has been made according to the purest and most time-honoured traditions, inherited from Homère and Charles Clément. The Clément Rhum Vieux Agricole XO matures in oak barrels for at least 6 years.

Clément Canne Bleue 2020

Anniversaire Rhum Blanc

Herkunft: Insel Martinique

Alkoholgehalt: 50%


For its 20th anniversary, Clement launches this Canne Bleue Vieux 2020 Rhum, an aged rhum agricole made from the island's particular blue sugar cane. The recipe, according to which this extraordinary rhum is created, is still the original, which founding father Homere Clement also used for the production. The anniversary edition is sold in a decorated blue bottle.


Tasting Notes

Nose: Spicy bouquet, characterized by nutmeg and mocha, with candied fruit and light hints of orange.

Palate: Intense notes of cocoa and dates add to the already familiar flavors.

Vintage Selection Mild Rum Malteco

Origin: Panama

Alcohol content: 42.3%



Typisch für einen Rum nach Guatemaltekischem Stil ist die Herstellung aus Virgin Cane Honey (Zuckerrohrsirup). Die anschliessende Lagerung in gebrauchten Bourbon-Fässern aus den USA gibt dem Malteco seinen unverwechselbaren Geschmack.


Tasting Notes

Farbe: intensives Bernstein mit goldenen Reflexen

Nose: Intense, delicate with unripe herbs, citrus fruits, hibiscus flowers, almonds, candied fruits (apple, apricot) - young wood and light spicy notes.

Gaumen: Zuerst süss, dann ein sofortiges Gefühl von Weichheit. Die Tanninnoten gleichen den aromatischen Körper aus, der von einem sehr spürbaren alkoholischen Ton ohne Schärfe unterstützt wird. Angenehme Frische.

Finish: Balanced - tones of sweet tobacco, custard, sweet spices, green apple and fat grass emerge. Good medium-length finish, persistently soft and with tones of toasted wood.

Malecon, Rare Proof 17y

Origin: Panama

Der 17-Jährige ist eine limitierte Abfüllung. Melasse aus den regionalen Zuckerrohrplantagen wird verwendet und nach kubanischer Art destilliert – in Column Stills (kontinuierliche Destillation).

Ryoma Japanese Rum

Origin: Japan

Alcohol content: 40%


As usual, the Japanese are modest. Nevertheless, with the Ryoma Rum they have produced a distillate that can definitely hold its own. The Japanese is made from pure sugar cane juice, using two different types of yeast and distilled in pot stills, rhum agricole style.


Tasting Notes

The Ryoma is floral and fruity on the nose - peaches, ginger, yeast, orange blossoms, lemon, fermented fruit and vanilla are prominent. Peach, yeast, vanilla and lemon are repeated on the palate, seasoned with olives, parmesan, green tea and zucchini. The long finish presents vanilla and lemon.

Did you know?

The first distillation of rum occurred in the 1620s when Caribbean sugar plantation slaves discovered that molasses, a by-product of sugar refining, could be fermented into alcohol.




The word rum... is probably derived from the English dialect word rumbullion for "riot" and "tumult".

Rum is made from... the molasses of the raw sugar, not from the sugar cane juice as many people think. Molasses is a chewy, dark brown sugar syrup. However, a small part of the rum production is made from freshly squeezed sugar cane juice. The name for this type of rum comes from the French overseas territories and is called Rhum Agricole.

The word Meleasse... comes from the late Latin "mellacium" and means "thickened wine, cider syrup" and "mel" for honey.

What is the minimum alcohol content in rum? Rum always has a minimum alcohol content of 37.5 percent. Pampero Ru, for example, is made with water from the in-house spring. Without the spring water, the rum distillate would have an alcohol content of 65 to 75 percent.

Woher kommt die goldene Farbe? 

Durch das Reifen im Holzfass bekommt dem Rum nicht nur seine goldene Farbe, sondern es macht ihn auch glatter und weicher im Geschmack. Außerdem können diverse Aromen freigesetzt werden, von gerösteter Vanille über Gewürze bis hin zu Kaffee.

What about white rum? White rum is either stored in steel casks or, like Pampero Blanco, is charcoal filtered after aging in wooden casks. This removes strong wood notes and gives it its fresh and fruity taste.

Rum not just for drinking? In the 19th century, rum was valued as a beauty product for its ability to cleanse hair and strengthen its roots. Today we know that it is not true.

Maturation and rum. Good taste takes time: the rum matures for 18 months in oak barrels, similar to whiskey. Rum must be stored in oak barrels for at least 3 years in order to be called "old rum".
